Social Security Scotland head office employee numbers: FOI release

Information requested

Request for information 1: The number of Social Security Scotland employees whose place of work is the Social Security Scotland headquarters in Dundee.

In other words, the number employees whose office or physical place of work is the headquarters.

Request for information 2: How many of those employees:
(i) have a flexible working arrangement whereby they can work from home and in the office
(ii) work from home full time.

Request for information 3: In the current financial year how many desks on average have been occupied per month.

Please provide the figure per month (each month of the financial year) and as a percentage of the overall staff number and desk number.

Response

Request for information 1:

Social Security Scotland’s head office is Agnes Husband House in Dundee. The number of current employees in Dundee is 1,342 as at 31 December 2024.

Request for information 2:

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Social Security Scotland does not have the information you have requested. This is because all members of staff have a contractual base location in their contract of employment which is their permanent, full-time place of work. Social Security Scotland is committed to working in a hybrid way and staff should spend at least two days per week (pro-rata) in an office. Exceptions may be made for colleagues and these will be discussed and agreed between the line manager and the individual. Where any such arrangement is made, it is reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Request for information 3:

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Social Security Scotland does not have the information you have requested. This is because in Social Security Scotland we do not monitor desk usage. Agnes Husband House is a flexible modern working environment that caters for a range of working styles. It’s facilities are used by Social Security Scotland colleagues, as well as hosting a number of internal and external stakeholders in a range of ways.

Access Control system and visitor logs are used to record building attendance and ensure our building is secure.
