Primary income accounts and gross national income (GNI) figures: FOI release

Any more up to date estimates of the primary income figures which the Scottish Government has calculated, with reference to the latest published statistics at https://www.gov.scot/publications/primary-income-accounts-and-gni-1998-2021/.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. There have been no further estimates made of the primary income accounts and GNI statistics since the publication for 1998-2021 released in June 2023.

One of the key data sources for these statistics is an extract from the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) survey conducted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). During 2024, the ONS delayed its processing of the FDI survey (see Foreign direct investment involving UK companies: 2022 - Office for National Statistics ) and the Scottish Government has not received data for 2022 or subsequent years. We expect to receive data for 2022 and 2023 during 2025, and will review plans for our publication when this is received. A publication date will be pre-announced when known.
