Public Service Reform and Community Empowerment spending: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

In table 4.05 of the document accompanying the budget statement on 4 December 2024, there is shown a large increase in budgeted spending for ‘Public Service Reform & Community Empowerment’.

Please provide the following information:

1. An account of what this budget category is for.

2. A history of outturn on public service reform & community empowerment from 2010 to present by year.

3. A breakdown of the budgeted £35.4 million spend for 2025-26 on this category. Please:
a. Break this down first into aggregated budget for public service reform and aggregated budget for community empowerment.
b. Break this down more granularly to as much detail as the Scottish Government possesses that can be provided.

4. A breakdown, as per 3, 3(a) and 3(b), of this budget for 2024-25, both pre- and post-ABR, and for 2023-24 in terms of budgeted spend and actual outturn.

5. An account of what motivated the large increase in budget for this category in 2024-25.
