Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
Request for information 1: Please may you provide me with a yearly breakdown of the total cost of payments for ADHD under ADP since it was moved from the DWP.
Request for information 2: Please also provide number of claimants approved for ADP for ADHD.
Response
Request for information 1:
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the costs of locating, retrieving, and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600. To provide the requested information as a yearly breakdown, would require manual interrogation of the 6,541 Adult Disability Payment cases which have received payment, where we have identified Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to be the primary or secondary condition.
Under section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under section 12.
You may, however, wish to consider reducing the scope of your request in order that the costs can be brought below £600. For example, by reducing the timeframe of your request. You may also find it helpful to look at the Scottish Information Commissioner's 'Tips for requesting information under FOI and the EIRs' on his website at:
http://www.itspublicknowledge.info/YourRights/Tipsforrequesters.aspx
However, to be helpful, we can provide the total value of payments for cases where ADHD has been identified as the primary or secondary condition since the launch of Adult Disability Payment: £31,642,840.11.
This information is accurate as of 28 April 2024, and includes payments for applications approved by 23 April 2024.
Request for information 2:
The number of people who have received Adult Disability Payment (where we have identified ADHD to be the primary or secondary condition) since launch of Adult Disability Payment to 28 April 2024 is 6,541.
Again, this includes cases which have been transferred from the Department for Work and Pensions.
