UNICEF emergency appeal funding for Sudan: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

How much has been donated by the Scottish Government to the UNICEF emergency appeal to support families affected by the conflict in Sudan?

Response

The answer to your request is that the Scottish Government has not donated to the UNICEF emergency appeal to support families affected by the conflict in Sudan. However, the Scottish Government has provided a contribution of £500,000 in the financial year 2023/24 in humanitarian aid in support of those affected by the conflict in Sudan through our standing Humanitarian Emergency Fund Panel.

In June 2023, Oxfam and the British Red Cross received £250,000 between them; and on 4 March 2024, £250,000 in Scottish Government funding was pledged for Oxfam and Christian Aid, responding to the ongoing conflict in Sudan for displaced people in South Sudan and Ethiopia.
