Response
Please can you provide the total number of accidents that have happened at the junction of the A92 North Anderson Drive and A96 Auchmill Road, Aberdeen since it opened in May 2022?
Please refer to attachment titled “Personal Injury Accident Statistics” which provides the information requested. To note, Transport Scotland only hold personal injury accident information. Transport Scotland does not hold information relating to damage only accidents (i.e. not involving an injury).
Please can you also provide a copy of any safety review carried out during the planning process of this junction, or since it has opened, with particular consideration give to the provision of traffic lights and signage.
Please find attached Road Safety Audit Reports for Stages 1 to 4, which includes developing proposals for A92/A96 Haudagain Improvements Project, connecting the A92 North Anderson Drive and the A96 Auchmill Road. Some of this information has been redacted, please refer to exemption below.
An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exception is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exception.
Neither the Stage 3 Road Safety Audit, which was carried out prior to road opening, nor the Stage 4 Road Safety Audit, which was carried out around one year after road opening, included any specific recommendations in respect of the traffic signals design at the A92/A96 Junction. It may be helpful to note that the responsibility for this section of road transferred to Aberdeen City Council (ACC) on 1 April 2023.
