Police pensions under the McCloud Remedy: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

1. The number of police officers who retired prior to 1st October 2023 and are eligible for payment awards under the McCloud Remedy.

2. The number of officers who retired prior to 1st October 2023 who have now received their payment award under the McCloud Remedy.

Response

1. There are 4,899 Police Officers who have retired prior to 1st October 2023, who are in scope of Remedy and entitled to a Remedial Service Statement.

2. No officers who retired prior to 1 October 2023 have received payment awards under the McCloud Remedy. This is because to date, no Remedial Service Statements (RSS) have been issued. The timeframe for issuing these Remedial Service Statements to retired members can be found on our website Police Remedy: I'm retired | SPPA (pensions.gov.scot). This will be kept up to date for each of the respective member groups.
