Fair Start Scotland - service group statistics: FOI release

Information requested

Information on job outcomes (e.g. 13, 26, 52 weeks) for each of the ‘Service Groups’ in FSS.

The attached table shows Fair Start Scotland starts and outcomes by year of joining the service and service group, year 1 to year 5 as at December 2022. Statistics included are number of starts, early leavers, jobs starts, 3 month job outcomes, 6 month job outcomes and 12 month job outcomes by start year. Data are included for starts in year 1 to 4 and includes information for part of year 5 up to December 2022.

December 2022 is the latest published information, available at: Scotland's Devolved Employment Services statistics - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). The next statistical publication will be released on 26 July 2023 containing Fair Start Scotland statistics up to March 2023. Further data on job outcomes by social characteristics of participants are available in this publication.

Please see further information to note when interpreting Fair Start Scotland outcomes. The numbers of early leavers, job starts, and job outcomes are shown by year of starting on the service, as at December 2022. Outcomes for each start cohort will continue to increase over time until the participants' time in FSS comes to an end. Near final data is available by outcome when enough time has passed for the combined duration of pre-employment support (12 months) and the duration of the job outcome concerned; 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.

For example, for the latest data collected up to December 2022, near final data is available for the job outcomes for start cohorts shown below:

• Early leavers and job starts are available for start cohorts up to the end of December 2021 (October to December 2021 quarter), as this allows 12 months for pre-employment support.
• 3 month job outcomes are available for starts up to the end of September 2021 (July to September 2021 quarter) as this allows 12 months for pre-employment support and 3 months to achieve the job outcome.
• 6 month job outcomes are available for starts up to the end of June 2021 (April to June 2021 quarter).
• 12 month job outcomes are available for starts up to the end of December 2020 (October to December 2020 quarter).
