Information released regarding FOI 202200335019: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

There appears to be a vast amount of missing return journeys in FOI https://www.gov.scot/publications/foi-202200335019/. For example on 07/04/2018 it says the FM travelled from Glasgow to Beijing, but there is no record of her returning to Scotland before the next recorded flight out of Edinburgh.

Could you please explain how this data has been sourced and presented?

Response

The management information records the origin and major destination of a booked itinerary, whether it is outward only or return. We hold only the overall cost and overall mileage of the itinerary because that is the information supplied for the original booking.

Where the booked itinerary is a return, we report this as the origin to the major destination only. The mileage recorded against each entry however is the total number of miles travelled to the major destination and back.
