Offenders convicted of homicide: FOI release

Information requested

1. Of all offenders convicted of homicide who were handed out a Community Payback Order, how many were convicted of Culpable Homicide? Please provide this information for all financial years between 2011-12 and 2020-21 (inclusive).

2. Of all offenders convicted of homicide who were handed out a fine, how many were convicted of Culpable Homicide? Please provide this information for all financial years between 2011-12 and 2020-21 (inclusive).

3. Of all offenders convicted of homicide who were handed out a Restriction of Liberty Order, how many were convicted of Culpable Homicide? Please provide this information for all financial years between 2011-12 and 2020-21 (inclusive).

Response

The Scottish Government Criminal Proceedings database shows that for the period in question one person was convicted of culpable homicide who received a community payback order. This conviction was in 2018-19. There were no people convicted of culpable homicide who received either a fine or a Restriction on Liberty Order.
