Taxpayer money being used for transportation for ministers: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Has any taxpayers money been used re ferrying you and Ministers to and from this political party event which has nothing to do with government business ?

Response

We are able to provide some of the information you have requested, an exemption applies to other aspects of your request.

It may be helpful if I explain that the Scottish Government Car Service (GCS) is responsible for managing and retaining information about Ministerial car journeys for all Ministers other than the First Minister.

The Scottish Government publishes this information here: Ministerial engagements, travel and gifts - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). The information is retained in line with the Scottish Government Records Management Plan.

I can however confirm that no government vehicles or public funds were used to transport Ministers to or from the SNP Conference 2022.

GCS does not hold information on the First Minister’s car travel because Police Scotland are responsible for this.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.
