Publication of "Quality Prescribing for Chronic Pain, a Guide for Improvement, 2018-2021" FOI release

Information requested

(1) The date on which the Scottish Government’s ‘Quality Prescribing for Chronic Pain, a Guide for Improvement, 2018-2021’ was published; and

(2) When / how it was disseminated to primary care / general practices.

Response

The guide was published on the Effective Prescribing and Therapeutics website over the last quarter of calendar year 2018, with the final revisions being applied in December 2018.

The guide was developed by an expert group who were responsible for raising awareness locally. The guide was disseminated to health boards who were responsible for distributing to GP practices and prescribers. Following an implementation meeting, a presentation pack was developed for local delivery and presented to the National Advisory Committee for Chronic Pain.
