Information on grant funding for the Think Positive project between 2018 - 2022: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

1. Could you please confirm grant funding by the Scottish Government to Think Positive for the academic years 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22.

2. Can you please provide information on future funding plans that the Scottish Government has for Think Positive?

Response

I have taken each of your questions in turn and provided answers as follows:

Scottish Government funding to NUS Think Positive is allocated on a financial year (FY) basis.
Please see below the funding figures from FY 2018-19 to 2021-22:

2018-19: £85,796
2019-20: £118,208
2020-21: £83,526
2021-22: £114,026

Decisions on future funding beyond this financial year will be subject to the annual budget process and Parliamentary approval of the Scottish Budget. Over the last three academic years, the Scottish Government have invested more than £11.5 million to support our commitment to introduce more than 80 additional counsellors in colleges and universities. Funding for the academic year (AY) 2021-22 was set at £4.23 million, an increase of almost £0.6 million on last year. This helped colleges address the issue of equity of access with no detriment to universities.
