Court backlogs caused by the pandemic: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

How many members of the public have written to or emailed Justice Secretary Keith Brown with ideas on how to tackle court backlogs caused by the pandemic.

Was a pro forma letter sent by Mr Brown's officials in reply?

Response

I have checked our records and identified six members of the public who have written to or emailed Mr Brown suggesting ways to address the court backlogs, during his time as Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Veterans. Officials did not send a pro forma letter in reply. Five of the correspondents received individual responses from Scottish Government officials. The email from the sixth correspondent was passed to COPFS to respond to.
