Quasi Governmental Agencies (Quangos) and public scrutiny: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Does SG expect its partner agencies and QUANGOS to involve all stakeholders - fully open to public scrutiny in their work to same level as SG?

Response

Scottish Ministers expect all public bodies to communicate clearly with their stakeholders, make information widely available, consult thoroughly and imaginatively and seek feedback on the public body’s performance, acting on it as appropriate.

Like the Scottish Government, all devolved public bodies are required to comply with the Scottish Public Finance Manual as well as the scrutiny and accountability the Parliament and its Committees places on them. The Manual sets out the relevant statutory, parliamentary and administrative requirements, emphasises the need for economy, efficiency and effectiveness, and promotes good practice and high standards of propriety. These levers provides a consistent approach across the landscape in Scotland.
