Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP) Highlands and Islands statistics: FOI release

Information requested

Information on the Scottish Government’s pledge to build more affordable housing, including which areas of the Highlands and Islands the houses are planned for and any information on progress.

I attach a table containing the affordable homes approved, started and completed through the Affordable Housing Supply Programme (AHSP), in the Highlands and Islands by Local Authority between April 2016 and end September 2021, reflecting our latest published statistics;

I have also included actual expenditure through the AHSP, between 2016-17 and 2020-21 and Resource Planning Assumptions (RPAs) for 2021-22 to 2025-26. RPAs assist Local Authorities by providing certainty on likely future funding levels to allow them to plan delivery against their affordable strategic housing priorities. I have included figures for Argyll and Bute, Highland, Moray, Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands and Western Isles council areas. We publish annual Out-turn Reports in the More Homes section of the Scottish Government website relating to the delivery of the AHSP, including details of number and type of affordable homes approved, started and completed by local authority area for that financial year. An update to reflect affordable homes projects delivered in 2020-21 will be available soon.

In terms of planned homes, each Local Authority prepares and publishes its Strategic Housing Investment Plans (SHIPs) annually, setting out their strategic priorities for affordable housing over a 5 year period. SHIPs for the period 2021-26 should be published by Local Authorities and available on their websites.
