While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. The reasons why we don't have the information are explained below.

No electric central heating has been recently installed at Bute House. Our reading of your information request is that it was submitted in response to coverage in the press relating to estimates for a change to heating provision drawn from a desk-based feasibility study carried out by Scottish Government contractors in early 2020.

This press coverage was based on information released by the Scottish Government in response to an FOI request which is available here:- Enhancements required for Bute House to meet carbon emission target: EIR release - gov.scot (www.gov.scot).

Information about Bute House is available on the Scottish Government Website: Bute House: a guide -gov.scot (www.gov.scot). In addition there is further information on the website relating to significant repair works carried out at Bute House which included a heating upgrade: Bute House repairs 2017 to 2018: cost breakdown - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)
