Location of Lay-by managed by Transport Scotland: EIR release

Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004

Information requested

For information regarding all the lay-bys managed by Transport Scotland. I am mainly looking for the locations of them. However any information you can provide would be very helpful and much appreciated.

Response

Please see Annex A to this response for the data we hold relating to the location of laybys on the trunk road network. Please note that this information is provided under Open Government Licence No 3 (Open Government Licence (nationalarchives.gov.uk)) and is provided without ANY warranty. The presence of an apparent layby on this list does not imply any right of usage for road users and it is worth noting specifically that both informal stopping points and bus stops are sometimes incorrectly labelled as laybys. Conversely, the absence of a layby (on the trunk road network) from the list does not mean that it is not the responsibility of Scottish Ministers but simply that it hasn’t been recorded. It is the best information that we hold and you should make all efforts to confirm the accuracy of the information attached.
