Information requested

1. “Did John Swinney state, on 06/12/2021, that Covid boosters will be included on NHS Scotland Vaccine Passports & App from 09/12/2021?

2. Why has this not happened as at 10/12/2021?

3. When will boosters be added to NHS Scotland Vaccine Passports and App?”

Response

I have included a response to each of your questions below:

Question 1:
I can confirm that the Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Covid Recovery, John Swinney appeared on Good Morning Scotland on Monday 6 December 2021. I have included a transcript of the comments made by Mr Swinney relating to proof of booster vaccination below:

“Presenter: When it comes to Omicron you’re very keen for people to have the booster and to have the booster as quickly as possible as another line of defence against that. Will the booster be included as part of the COVID passport scheme?

John Swinney: For international travel it will from 09 December. And we will expand that for domestic certification but that will take us a little more time to do that. But the critical requirement is for international travel and those changes will be applied from 09 December.”

Question 2:
This is a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

Proof of booster vaccination was introduced to the NHS Scotland Covid Status App on 9 December and is now available. You may have to update your app for this change to take effect, and for some people it can take up to 24 hours for the data to come through.
