Breakdown of laptop delivery statistics across local authorities: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

  • As a follow-up to Parliamentary question: https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-andcommittees/written-questions-and-answers/question?ref=S5W-30015, how many of these laptops outlined for 25,000 pupils were ultimately delivered to pupils who required them?
  • Can this be broken down by the number of laptops which were delivered to each local authority and the number of pupils who received one for use during the period of home/remote learning?
  • And how many of these devices are still in use, broken down by the number of pupils in each local authority?

Response

I attach  a copy of some of the information you requested in the attached annex.

Whilst our aim is to provide information wherever possible, the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.

The Scottish Government does not hold some of the information you have asked for because Chromebooks were provided to local authorities by the Scottish Government. As such, these devices became assets of the local authority and decisions on their use were taken locally. We do not hold detailed information on how these devices are currently being used.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have all the information you have requested.
