Free travel passes for COP26 Delegates: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

“The total sum received by the Scottish Government to facilitate the free travel pass for COP26 delegates?

If this information cannot be shared or if no money was received by the Scottish Government, could you please share which Government body had responsibility for administering the free travel pass?”

Response

I can confirm that the Scottish Government has not received payment to facilitate the free travel passes for COP26 Delegates.

It may be helpful to explain that the provision of free delegate travel passes was a decision made by the UK Government as part of their agreement with the United Nations to bid for the conference in the UK. Costs associated with COP26 transport, including those for free delegate travel, will be met by the UK Government.
