Regeneration of the Hunterston industrial site: EIR release

Information requested

(a) What recent discussions Scottish Government representatives have had with Peel Ports’ Group representatives regarding the regeneration of the Hunterston industrial site.

b) The details of all correspondence - emails, typed or handwritten notes, letters, phone calls, typed or written minutes, SMS messages, messages sent through other digitals means (such as WhatsApp), documents, or otherwise - related to those meetings and discussions.

Response

There have been no recent discussions between the Scottish Government and Peel Ports’ Group representatives regarding the regeneration of the Hunterston industrial site. However, as noted from the attached documents, there was correspondence in 2020. Planning related information should be treated as EIR. The search has been limited to 13 January 2020 given previous information request release:

In addition, Scottish Enterprise continue to be closely engaged with Peel Ports and are collaborating with them, along with North Ayrshire Council, under a Memorandum of Understanding to advance and secure the delivery at Hunterston of regional and national investment objectives defined in the Scottish Government Inward Investment Strategy and Ayrshire Economic Strategy. Work is progressing across a range of sectors including the Circular Economy to develop a refined position identifying market gaps, industry demand and alignment with the assets of Hunterston PARC. In addition, the Scottish Government is in regular communication with the Clyde Marine Planning Partnership of which Peel Ports is a member.
