Domestic transport statistics based on council area: FOI release

Information requested

I am looking for any databases relating to the following:

1. annual or daily average car mileage per council region? It would also help if the data was dated somewhere between early 2000s to 2019.

2. Most used make/model of car used per council region between early 2000s and 2019

3. Annual Co2 emitted from domestic vehicles per council between early 2000s and 2019

Response

1. Attached is a copy of the information you requested showing car traffic estimates by council area from 2000 to 2020.

2. Although we do not hold this information you may be able to obtain it from the Department for transport. Their contact details are VEHICLES.STATS@dft.gov.uk.

3. The National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory provides information on emissions at Scotland and Local Authority level which is published on the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy website. However, the figures are for types of road rather than types of vehicle. You may be able to obtain the more detailed information you are looking for if you contact them here: Climatechange.Statistics@beis.gov.uk
