School refusers and home schooling statistics in Dundee and Angus: FOI release

Information requested

Looking for information in relation to current school refusers/ homeschooling in Dundee and Angus. I would like to request the following information please:

  • the number of primary school refusers in Dundee
  • the number of secondary school refusers in Dundee
  • the number of primary school refusers in Angus
  • the number of secondary school refusers in Angus
  • the number of pupils on a part time school timetable in primary in Dundee
  • the number of pupils on a part time school timetable in secondary in Dundee
  • the numbers of pupils on a part time school timetable in primary in Angus
  • the number of pupils on a part time school timetable in secondary in Angus
  • number of primary children being homeschooled in Dundee
  • the number of secondary children being homeschooled in Dundee
  • the number of primary children being homeschooled in Angus
  • the number of secondary children being homeschooled in Angus
  • are the current numbers higher this year than previous years?

Response

We collect data on the pupils that are on a part-time timetable for reasons related to exclusion and for reasons related to health. This information is collected biennially and the latest data we have is for the 2018/19 school year. The data for Dundee City and Angus is shown below.

Note that this data shows the number of pupils that were on a part-time timetable at any point during the school year. Also note that data on pupils on a part-time timetable for reasons other than exclusion or health is not collected.
