Demersal fish caught in Scottish waters: EIR release

Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004

Information requested

Please provide information on how much demersal fish in total was caught in Scottish waters by the vessels you listed in years 2019, 2020, & 2021.

Response

The attached excel file provides the requested information on the tonnage of demersal fish caught in Scottish Waters by your listed vessels.

Information is recorded on where commercial fish are caught by ICES rectangle (a form of grid system used to divide sea areas and are around 30 nautical miles by 30 nautical miles) and they do not fit directly into Scottish waters. Therefore, for this purpose we have estimated Scottish waters as all rectangles which have the majority of their area within the actual area of Scottish Waters. This means that these figures should be treated with caution and could be substantially different depending on where fishing vessels are actually fishing in an ICES rectangle.

Information by species is provided where at least 5 of your specified vessels have caught that species within the relevant year. When less than 5 of the specified vessels caught a species then this is not shown separately but is amalgamated into the 'all other demersal species' group.

The data supplied is taken from management information and may be subject to change or revision.

The data for 2021 is likely to be incomplete and only includes data on fish landed on or before 15th September 2021.
