Information requested

1. Can you tell me if the two newly appointed Green ministers are responsible to a Cabinet Secretary or, if not, what other arrangements have been made for their accountability to the Government as a whole?

2. Are specific directorates intended to report to them, or, if not, how else are they to make and implement decisions?

Response

1. The Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants' Rights, Patrick Harvie MSP, reports to the Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport and to the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing and Local Government. The Minister for Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity, Lorna Slater MSP, reports to the Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport and to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Economy. 2. Like any other junior Minister in the Scottish Government, the two newly appointed Ministers have the full support of the Civil Service. This includes advice and support from a number of different policy directorates.
