Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002


Information requested

1. Can you advise how many active app users there were on the Protect Scotland app on August 3rd 2021?

2. Can you also advise how many active app users there were on the Protect Scotland app on August 9th 2021?

3. Furthermore can you also provide the number of active app users on the Protect Scotland app on August 18th 2021?

4. Can you please let me know the highest number of Protect Scotland app users and on which date this was?

Response

As at 16 September 2021:

1. As of 03rd August, there were 874k instances where the app is actively set up to receive notifications on a daily basis.

2. As of 09th August, there were 868k instances where the app is actively set up to receive notifications on a daily basis.

3. As of 18th August, there were 900k instances where the app is actively set up to receive notifications on a daily basis.

4. It may be helpful if explain that the total number of instances where the app is set up to receive notifications on a daily basis can fluctuate throughout each day. This is due to a number of circumstances such as users pausing the app because they work in the NHS and whether they have Bluetooth turned on.
