Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

You requested information regarding St Margaret’s RC Primary in South Queensferry, namely the number of complaints made against the Head Teacher since 2016 as well as how many staff have left during this period.

I can confirm that since 2016, Education Scotland has received 3 complaints regarding St Margarets RC Primary School as follows:

Year Details of Complaints (Not within Education Scotland’s Remit)
2018 Concerns with the management.
2018 Concerns with the management.
2019 Concerns with the management.

However, please note that Education Scotland does not have the remit to investigate complaints or concerns raised about individual schools/teachers. Please see our questions and answers page for advice and assistance on these matters.

I would advise that you contact The City of Edinburgh Council. The education authority has responsibility for ensuring that any concerns about schools in its area are dealt with appropriately. The following link takes you to the Freedom of Information section on their website: Make a Freedom of Information request form – The City of Edinburgh Council.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Education Scotland does not have the information you have requested as to how many staff members have left the school since 2016, therefore this is exempt under section 17(1) of FOISA.

To assist you further with this part of your request, you may find it helpful to contact The General Teaching Council;
