Ministerial engagements: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

How many people with learning disabilities have met with Scottish Government Ministers in the last year?

How many of these meetings discussed the transfer of responsibility for cross-government support for learning disabilities to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills?

Response

Unfortunately, I am not able to provide all of the information you requested. In relation to the first part of your request, the Scottish Government does not record nor ask whether participants at Ministerial meetings have learning/intellectual disabilities.

However you are able to examine Ministerial Diaries to see what meetings have been taken by Ministers over the past year. Details of all Ministerial engagements are proactively published by the Scottish Government.

The information can be accessed at the below link:

https://www.gov.scot/collections/ministerialengagements-travel-and-gifts/

Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you.

In relation to the second part of your request I can confirm that no Scottish Government or Scottish Minister meetings took place with stakeholders to discuss the transfer of responsibility for crossgovernment support for learning disabilities to the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills and therefore none took place with people with learning/intellectual disabilities.
