Communications relating to Rangers Football club celebrations: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

Comments made by Deputy Chief Constable Malcolm Graham in the aftermath of the Rangers FC title-winning celebrations.

I wish to request copies of all correspondence which may have taken place between Police Scotland corporate communications and the Scottish Government in this regard - emails, SMS, WhatsApp and phone records.

Response

Attached is a copy of the information requested with a redaction of names of staff involved, an exemption under Section 38 1 (b) Personal Information, in Annex B.

The reasons why that exemption(s) applies are explained in the Annex A.

Annex A
REASONS FOR NOT PROVIDING INFORMATION

An exemption applies

An exemption(s) under section(s) s.38(1) b of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. The names and contact details of officials below the senior civil service are not released
as part of an FOI response.

This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
