"Who paid for this photograph?

Who owns the copyright or licensing rights?

It has been used in the recent past on the side of a bus, on a helicopter and in advertising material specifically for political and campaign purposes. Can I please ask whom in the Scottish Government decided it can be used in a publicly funded website and other publicly funded materials?"

In answer to your questions, no payment was requested of the Scottish Government for use of this image and the copyright sits with the photographer, Richard Mountney Photography Ltd, who granted us permission for its use in March 2015.

Aileen Easton, Deputy Director News, Digital and Content, approved this photograph for use with the First Minister's Scottish Government website biography. It does not lend endorsement to any political party or candidate, and it is used for an entirely legitimate public information function.
