These figures were calculated using the most recent 2018/19 Local Government Finance Statistics. These are available from Scottish local government finance statistics (SLGFS) 2018-19: workbooks - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). Education expenditure by Local Authority has been taken from line 16 of the "2018-19 LFR 01- revised 22 September 2020" excel document.

Pupil data was acquired from the 2018 Pupil Census to align with 2018/19 Finance Statistics. Pupil Census data are available from Pupil census: supplementary statistics - gov.scot (www.gov.scot), Pupil census 2020 supplementary statistics, Tables 6.2 and 7.2. Expenditure per pupil across special schools has not been provided. This is because, for confidentiality reasons, the number of special school pupils are not published for Local Authorities with small numbers of these pupils.
