COVID-19 and death statistics for Scotland: FOI release

Information requested

What is Scotland's death rates by cause for each month of the years 2000, 2005,2010,2015 and 2020 to date.

Plus the following for 2020:

1. Deaths of people with Covid and Covid alone
2. Death where covid was marked on the death certificate but not tested for but just suspected.
3. Deaths of people with already underlying health conditions, who were covid positive but wasn't an contributing factor
4. Deaths of people with normal seasonal flu
5. Deaths of people with normal seasonal flu already with underlying health conditions
6. Deaths of people for other reasons with no Covid

Response

Most of the information you have requested is available from National Records of Scotland (NRS). Monthly mortality statistics by selected causes of death are available at the link that follows here:

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. The reasons why we don't have the information are explained below.
