Scottish Government funding of the Victims Taskforce 2018-2020: FOI release

"The amount of money spent by the Scottish Government on the Victims Taskforce. This includes: money spent on research for the taskforce, any civil servants who are tasked with supporting the work of the Victims Taskforce, money spent on involving Victim Support Organisations with the project and any other additional costs associated with the Victims Taskforce."

Response

I refer to your request under the Freedom of Information Act for information in relation to civil servants supporting the Victims Taskforce. Your request did not specify a timeframe, therefore we have provided average staff costs, since the start of the Victims Taskforce, in December 2018. This spend covers the core policy team that support the Victims Taskforce.

The spend from December 2018 to 24 September 2020 is outlined below.

The staffing expenditure is broken down as follows:

• 2018-2020: £98,578

• 2020-2021: £111,573

Venue hire and catering cost is broken down as follows:

• 2018-2020: £1500

• 2020-2021: n/a

Over the financial year 2019-20, Victim Support Scotland was granted £11,480 to support work relating to the Victims Taskforce, including victims representative's costs and engagement work (including venue costs and travel).

Over the financial year 2019-20, Rape Crisis Scotland was granted up to £8,800 to support the setting up and management of a Survivors Reference Group to help inform the work of the Victims Taskforce, the judicially-led review of sexual offence cases and other forums as required.
