Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
I am looking for results from Track and Trace and people who told their employer they had Coronavirus.
1. How many people does the SG have on record of people contacting Coronavirus in Pubs in Scotland? (This includes workers/customers)
2. How many people does the SG have on record of people contacting Coronavirus in Restaurants? (again, both customer/workers total)
3. Can I have a full list of all the Pubs/Bars/Restaurants that had people with Coronavirus? (again this includes workers/customers)
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. On the first bullet point the Scottish Government does not hold information on whether or not confirmed coronavirus cases have informed their employer. On the second, third and fourth bullet points the Scottish Government does not routinely collect information on specific pubs or restaurants and whether the infected person is an employee or customer. However on occasion individual pubs and restaurants are listed.
Annex A lists the pubs or restaurants where a coronavirus case has reported a social interaction between the reopening of pubs and the date of your request 18 September. Annex A does not capture the full list of venues as the reporting of specific venues occurred occasionally. Please note cases can report more than 1 social exposure. Just because a case mentions that they have been at a particular venue or gathering event this does not imply that they acquired infection at that location.
Figure 12 within the Scottish Government's evidence paper* provides the percentage of reported exposures of confirmed coronavirus cases within a hospitality setting. Please note this graph captures
both restaurants and bars under the banner of hospitality and provides a more accurate reflection of social exposures in the hospitality industry than the list below.
