Human trafficking and slavery prosecutions and convictions: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

1. The number of persons (a) prosecuted and (b) convicted of human trafficking and slavery, servitude etc type offences as their principal offence.

2. How many of the persons enumerated in answer to question 1. were EEA or Swiss nationals (not including UK nationals). If the number of persons in either of these categories is so small that it cannot be released please instead provide details of what percentage of persons (a) prosecuted, and (b) convicted were (i) EEA or Swiss nationals (not including UK nationals) and (ii) UK nationals. If this still cannot be released please provide the number for the whole period 2016-2019 rather than separately for each year.

3. The number of additional individuals investigated for human trafficking or slavery, servitude etc type offences were instead (a) prosecuted and (b) convicted of other offences.

4. How many of the persons enumerated in answer to question 3. were EEA or Swiss nationals (not including UK nationals). If the number of persons in either of these categories is so small that it cannot be released, please instead provide details of what percentage of persons (a) prosecuted, and (b) convicted were (i) EEA or Swiss nationals (not including UK nationals) and (ii) UK nationals. If this still cannot be released please provide the number for the whole period 2016-2019 rather than separately for each year.
