Scottish university correspondence regarding the per-student cost of providing university tuition: FOI release

Information requested

You asked for the following information between 20 May 2020 and 01 September 2020:

  • Any correspondence (including letters and emails) between any Scottish university and the Scottish Government regarding the per-student cost of providing university tuition.
  • Any Scottish Government analysis of the per-student cost of providing university tuition (such as briefings produced to this effect, minutes of any relevant meetings, letters or emails where this issue is discussed).

Response

I enclose a copy of the information you requested in the attached Annex.

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, i.e. names, contact details, and other identifiable information, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.
