Highland and Islands Enterprise financial management report redactions: FOI release

There are 16 redactions. It appears that three of these are reference to an individual whose name is openly documented with Companies House. I see no reason why it should be redacted.
Most of the other redactions appear to be companies that were appointed by HIE to do some kind of consultancy work. Ultimately, it is taxpayers’ money that has funded such work and taxpayers have a right to know which companies did the work.
All of the work dates back years and there are no live commercial contracts that would create commercial sensitivity.
I do not know the nature of 3.6 but would like to see it or to have an explanation of on what grounds it was redacted.
The remaining redaction appears to be a junior employee of HIE. I do not wish for this part to be redacted.”

Response

I can confirm that we have been able to release most of the redacted information within the document as requested. This document has been attached to the email. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, you will note that certain information has been redacted and I can confirm that this has been done in line with the exemptions outlined in FOISA. The exemption that applies in this case is under Section 37 (Further information on this has been provided in Annex A).
