Bridge closures and duration: EIR release

Information request and response under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004


Information requested

1) The number of times the Forth Road Bridge has been closed in the last 5 years (per calendar year) the duration of each closure and the reason for each closure.

2) The number of times the Queensferry Crossing has been closed in the last 5 years (per calendar year) the duration of each closure and the reason for each closure.

3) The number of times the Tay (road) Bridge has been closed in the last 5 years (per calendar year) the duration of each closure and the reason for each closure.

4) The number of times the Skye Bridge has been closed in the last 5 year (per calendar year) the duration of each closure and the reason for each closure

6) The number of times Kyleshu Bridge has been closed in the last 5 year (per calendar year) the duration of each closure and the reason for each closure.

1. Please see Annex A to this response which provides the number of times the Forth Road Bridge has been closed, duration and reason for each closure.

2. Please see Annex B to this response which provides the number of times the Queensferry Crossing has been closed, duration and reason for each closure since opening. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we do not have some of the information you have
requested. Therefore we are refusing your request under the exception at regulation 10(4)(a) of the ElRs. The reason this exception applies is because the Queensferry Crossing did not open until 30 August 2017.

3. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we do not have the information you have requested. Therefore we are refusing your request under the exception at regulation 10(4)(a) of the ElRs. The reason this exception applies is because the Tay Road Bridge is not part of the trunk road network and is the responsibility of the Tay Road Bridge Joint Board. 6. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we do not have the information you have requested. Therefore we are refusing your request under the exception at regulation 10(4)(a) of the EIRs. The reason this exemption applies is because the Kyleshu Bridge is not part of the trunk road network and is the responsibility of The Highland Council not Transport Scotland. 7. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we do not have the information you have requested. Therefore we are refusing your request under the exception at regulation 10(4)(a) of the EIRs. This is because the Clyde Arch is not part of the trunk road network and is the responsibility of Glasgow City Council, not Transport Scotland.
