Schools accepting cash payments: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

You asked us to confirm whether it is Scottish Government policy that schools will no longer accept cash payments.  You also asked us if this policy is in place that we could confirm whether an Equality Impact Assessment was carried out and, if an Equality Impact Assessment was not carried out, to explain why it was not felt necessary to do so.

Response

The Scottish Government has no policy in place which states that cash payments cannot be made directly to schools. Administration of payments to school is a matter for Education Authorities.
