You are "interested in knowing what the original budget was and the likelihood of that budget being exceeded, based on spend to date."

 

Response

In reply to your request, the Scottish Government established the Care Review to take an independent root and branch look at the care system. It is looking at the legislation, practices, culture and ethos of our system to improve both the quality of life and outcomes of young people in care and it has the voice of children and young people with experience of care at its heart.
The Review has been awarded £5,178,235 over the financial years 2017-18 through to 2019-20. The breakdown per annum is £1,239,330 for 2017- 8, £1,768,908 for 2018-19 and £2,169,997 for 2019-20.

Section 17(1) of FOISA (information not held) requires the Scottish Government to notify you if it does not have the information you requested. The Review has not exceeded its budget in each of the last 2 years, however, we do not hold information on expenditure to date for year 3 or on the likelihood of the budget being exceeded in future. The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for in relation to expenditure this year because the Review is independent of the Scottish Government and has control over how the budget is spent in delivering its objectives.
