Named person service, results of independent review panel: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

I work for a small charity called Hot Chocolate Trust in Dundee which provides a drop-in facility for young people which is a safe place to hang out in Dundee city centre. Our main source of youth workers are volunteers and I am looking for some information around the named person and the result of the independent review panel so that I can up the team. I have searched the Scottish Government website for the latest information regarding the Named Person as described in GIRFEC and I can’t find the results of the Independent Review Panel. If you are able would you please provide me with an up-date on the latest information.

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because the Practice Development Panel is a body independent of the Government. The Panel has only just finished a period of targeted engagement and must now meet and draw conclusions based on these engagements. Once this has been done, they will then present these conclusions and any recommendations in a letter to the Deputy First Minister. This has not yet been done. Once we have a copy of this letter, we intend to publish it and you will be able to find it here:

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

In order to be as helpful as possible, however, please find below a link to a letter from the Chair of the Panel to the Deputy First Minister, prior to the engagement period I mentioned, which sets out the Panel's emerging views:
