Information requested
Details of the calculation which estimated that UK Government welfare cuts could reduce social security spending in Scotland by up to £3.7 billion in 2020-21.

The figure referred to is based on calculations which were conducted for the Scottish Government's 2018 Welfare Reform Report. The report is available from https://www.gov.scot/publications/2018-annual-report-welfare-reform-9781787812628/.
The method used to calculate the figure is discussed in detail in Annex II of that report.
Attachment 1 contains the background calculations used to produce the estimate, alongside the charts and figures produced for the report. The figure referred to in your request is labelled as the “Total impact of welfare reforms” on page 2 of the document.
