Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) fraud cases identified: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

The number of cases where fraud was identified by SAAS since 2016. Broken down by bans of 0-2,500, 2,501-5,000 etc.
The total value that is within each of the bands.

Response

Please see table below for the number of cases that have been closed with a “fraud proven” conclusion split into bands with the total value in that band. As the number of cases in some of the bands were below 5 and could therefore lead to identification, or self-identification, we have increased some of the bandings in order to provide you with the information requested. Otherwise we would have had to suppress some of the
information in line with statistical disclosure control.
