Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
How much have the Scottish Government invested in grants to social housing providers to facilitate housing adaptions (an adaption can be understood as a ramp, hand rail, flashing doorbell, downstairs bathroom and/or otherwise) for disabled people (inclusive of those with physical, learning and/or mental disabilities) in each of the last four years – presented as 2015-2016, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19.
Response
Since the integration of health and social care, Integration Joint Boards (IJBs) are responsible for the planning and delivery of all adaptations. The Scottish Government does not hold the details of funding expenditure centrally. Housing Statistics for Scotland, however, details the total number and the cost of housing adaptations delivered by each local authority.
The Scottish Government also provides additional funding to Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) to help to provide adaptations to older and disabled tenants. Funding is not ring-fenced for specific client groups and no target number of adaptations is set for individual RSLs. Instead, each RSL, with the assistance of suitably qualified experts such as occupational therapists, will determine the relative priority of each individual application for an adaptation.
The following table sets out the total funding provided to RSLs in Scotland for adaptations from 2007-08 to 2015-16.
