How much compensation has been paid out by CalMac and CMAL over the last 4 years for delayed ferry sailings due to technical faults?
Our response to your request for information is included below.
A total of £429,611 has been awarded in compensation by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) from January 2014 – September 2018; with the following breakdown of the past four years:
- £81,005 awarded in 2014
- £181,060 awarded in 2015
- £127,331 awarded in 2016
- £37,215 awarded in 2017
- £120,373 awarded between January 2018 and September 2018
Caledonian Maritime Assets (CMAL) as infrustucture provider has not awarded any compensation over the last 4 years for delayed ferry sailings due to technical faults.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does hold the information you have requested between September 2018 and the end of 2018. However you may wish to contact CalMac directly at enquiries@calmac.co.uk who may be able to help you. Scottish Government is unable to provide this most recent information regarding compensation awards as it is provided by the operator provided on a biannual basis.
