Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Date received: 12 November 2018
Date responded: 4 December 2018
You asked:
- Do the deposit keeping companies, including Safedeposits, have any target times for completing Deposit Adjudications?
- How long do cases take - please give figures for all cases dealt with by Safedeposits Jan -1.11.2018.
- How is the performance in providing adjudication services measured?
The 3 questions you asked are detailed below along with responses to each of them. I should point out that I am unable to provide details of the time taken on individual cases dealt with by Safe Deposits Scotland as we do not hold this information. However, by combining questions 2 and 3 together I am able to provide details of the number of cases dealt with each month along with Key Performance Indicators expressed as percentages for Safe Deposits Scotland. This shows how their performance is measured on adjudication and other indicators. I hope this will be helpful to you.
Do the deposit keeping companies, including Safedeposits, have any target times for completing Deposit Adjudications?
Yes. Information on the timescales for deposit adjudications are set out in Part 5 (Procedures for payment, holding, and repayment of deposits) and Part 6 (Disputeresolution) of the Tenancy Deposit Schemes (Scotland) Regulations 2011. The regulations can be found at the following link: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2011/176/contents/made .

How is the performance in providing adjudication services measured?
As mentioned above I have dealt with questions 2 and 3 together. Whilst I am unable to provide details of the time taken on individual cases by Safe Deposits Scotland, I attach 2 tables which provide details of the average time taken on cases along with Key Performance Indicators expressed as percentages for each month. It is important to note that figures on the number of working days, taken at different stages of the process, are all average figures. These average figures will comprise of cases which were straightforward and easy and took only a few days to process as well as cases that took much longer as a result of their complexity.
You requested information for the period 1 January 2018 to 1 November 2018. I have provided the most up to date information available for Safe Deposits Scotland which includes information from their first 3 quarterly returns to the Scottish Government for 2018 (1 January 2018 to 30 September 2018).
