Information requested
In your request you asked for the following information:
- figures for the amount paid to employees who are suspended in each financial year – 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, and 2018/19 (to date).
- a breakdown of how many people were suspended, in each of those years, and reasons for the suspension.
- If possible, please include the highest amount paid to a single individual, how long that person had been suspended for, and the reason for their suspension. (Please note, if you have concerns about identifying individuals, the most important part of this question is the total amount paid to that recipient).

Over the period covered by your request, 23 staff have been suspended. However, where an individual’s suspension has crossed financial years, the individual is shown in the count for both years.
While our aim is to provide information wherever possible, an exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to the remaining information requested. This is because it is personal data of a third party and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018.
