FOI reference: FOI/18/02863
Date received: 5 October 2018
Date responded: 20 October 2018

Information requested

You asked for:

  • The number of people sentenced to custody for drug possession, possession with intent to supply and supply, and if possible, broken down by the Class of drug;
  • The number of people remanded into custody for drug possession, PWITS, and supply, and if possible broken down by the Class of drug and gender of the defendant.
Response

The answer to your first question is provided in the attached MS Excel tables.

Scottish Government does not hold information on the number of people remanded into custody. The question you have asked could be interpreted in two ways:

  • If it is a number of people in custody, following arrest for drug possession/ possession with intent to supply/ supply, I would suggest getting in touch with Police Scotland.
  • If it is a number of people appearing in court from custody for drug possession/ possession with intent to supply/ supply or number of people remanded following their court appearance I would suggest getting in touch with the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.
