Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

FOI reference: FOI/18/02662
Date received: 12 September 2018
Date responded: 8 October 2018

Information requested

The business plan for the new Paris trade hub, any details of possible locations for the Paris trade hub, and any details of an opening date.

Response

The new Scottish Government’s Innovation and Investment Hub in Paris will be located in 16 Rue d’Anjou, where Scottish Development International has its offices.

Ms Lucy Sterne, who joined the Scottish Government in August 2018, has been appointed as Head of the Hub.
The Hub will become operational in the course of Autumn 2018.

You also asked about a business plan for the Paris Hub. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. A formal business plan will be developed only once the Hub has become operational.

In general, the Hub will seek to boost Scotland’s trade with France, increase inward investment to Scotland and support innovation-focussed collaboration and entrepreneurial exchange, including between business and academia. It will also promote Scotland’s interests in key Paris-based international organisations such as OECD and UNESCO. The Hub will look to build on Scotland’s reputation as a destination of choice to live, work, study, visit and do business in.
